New Signature is guided by a strong executive management team, led by Christopher Hertz, David Geevaratne and Dave Charlton. This team manages New Signature operations, ensures that New Signature provides the highest level of customer service, develops and delivers innovative products and services. Under their guidance, New Signature has held true to its mission to provide high-quality, cutting-edge creative technology services and unsurpassed customer service.
Christopher Hertz, CEO
Christopher is the founder and CEO of New Signature. He sets the company’s long-term strategies, leads the company’s customer-service-oriented culture, and works closely with customers on a wide range of strategic engagements. Christopher’s efforts have resulted in New Signature’s ability to deliver services and build products that use technology creatively, are beautifully designed, have a positive social impact, and are always backed by passionate, friendly support.
Through his leadership, New Signature received the 2010 National Capital Business Ethics Award, which recognizes companies that exemplify a strong commitment to business excellence and to the highest standards of civic and social responsibility, integrity and ethical conduct in the Greater Washington region.
Over the last decade, Christopher has provided strategic guidance to a wide range of growing companies, including HelloWallet.com, Clarity Companies, Collactive and NDA Partners. Prior to founding New Signature, Christopher was an associate publisher at The Federal Paper. Formerly, Christopher was the CEO and co-founder of Evolving Data Corporation (EDC), an information retrieval company based in Laurel, MD. Before co-founding EDC, he held the position of vice president, technology for AllHerb.com—a vitamins and supplements e-tailer. He started his career at WestLake Consulting Group, a boutique consultancy focused on design and development of Internet-based systems, as a consultant before becoming the director of business development.
Christopher holds a master’s degree in business administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a dual bachelor’s degree in information management and technology and anthropology from Syracuse University. While at MIT Sloan, Christopher was co-president of the Graduate Management Society, co-founded the MIT Sloan student newspaper and was a teaching assistant to Professor Jesper Sorensen’s Strategic Management course. He is an associate member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and has twice been a Webby Awards judge.
David Geevaratne, President
David Geevaratne is New Signature’s President and in this role he executes the company’s strategic direction, directs research and development efforts, manages client engagements, and guides corporate strategy. He has over a decade of management and information technology experience, and co-founded New Signature in 2003.
Prior to New Signature, David was the technology manager of The Federal Paper where he organized, structured and built the newspaper’s network, website and IT policies. Before joining in August 2002, David was the director of technology Operations at Intelligent Web Management, a technology consulting company based in Landover, Maryland. IWM specialized in utilizing hardware and software to improve productivity for medium- to enterprise-level business. In addition to managing a workforce of fifty contractors, David planned, executed and maintained over one hundred network infrastructures for companies such as Dupont’s Lycra division and McKee Food’s Little Debbie Snack Cakes division.
Prior to working for IWM, David was the director of operations and co-founder of Netstar System and Design Innovations, a consulting and engineering firm specializing in custom internet application development. David handled sales, consulting, design and development. During his tenure, he developed NASA’s Outsourcing Desktop Initiative (ODIN) application for ACS Government Solutions. Netstar was profitably sold, and then became Intelligent Web Management, Inc.
David attended Washington College with a dual focus in both English and Philosophy and a minor in Computer Science. He is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator, Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator, Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Lync Server Administrator, Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Virtualization Administrator, Microsoft Certified Trainer as well as a CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer.
Dave Charlton, COO
Dave Charlton is New Signature’s COO and plays the important role of managing the day-to-day activities of the corporation, directing the efforts of New Signature’s creative division, leading client initiatives, and guiding corporate planning and development. Dave has more than fifteen years of experience in leadership positions with established public companies and startups.
Most recently Dave was the chief technology officer of Santeon, Inc. — a business process management software company — where he played a role in setting, and executing, strategic direction and was responsible for scientific and technical initiatives. Prior to joining Santéon, Dave was vice president of product development at InforMax, a global leader in commercial bioinformatics software. There, Dave was responsible for a multimillion dollar budget and all aspects of product development for the company’s award-winning line of desktop and enterprise software for biomolecular analysis. Previously, Dave was the COO and vice president of online strategy for AllHerb.com, the top online retailer in its category. Dave led the effort to build the company from conception, including technological infrastructure, business process design, facilities planning, and team building. Dave was the vice president of technology for All Things Delivered, Inc. from 1996 to 1998, where he was responsible for creating and managing the technological infrastructure of Washington DC’s first Internet-based grocery shopping and home delivery service. From 1989 to 1996, Dave held various senior level roles at Intactix International (formerly MarketWare Corporation). As the director of product development at MarketWare, Dave was responsible for all aspects of software development for the firm’s market-leading retail space management products.
Dave attended Yale University where he studied mechanical engineering.
