As businesses move boldly forward with technology, often they lose track of what they would do in a disaster scenario, or what even constitutes a disaster scenario.
In the past, with a mostly paper-based workforce, workers were less reliant on computing resources and could be moved around more easily. Proximity to others was necessary because otherwise, there could be no collaboration. Dictation was the highest form of technology in place.
Today, most workers spend a majority of their time using computers or the associated services. And most workers expect that they’ll have access to email 24/7, even while on travel. Most assume they can check voicemail, and get vital contact information for people they need to deal with, regardless of the time or location. Everyone expects to be able to get to the Internet from everywhere. (more…)
The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools launched their re-designed website and released the 2009 Public Charter School Dashboard, a new comprehensive online report. The Dashboard is the largest set of statistical indicators describing public charter school growth and quality ever compiled. New Signature designed, developed and implemented both of these exciting new facets of the Alliance’s web presence.
The new website uses more than just words to connect with its audience. Visitors consume content through multimedia vectors, including video, audio, photos, maps, and interactive reports. New Signature built the website to provide editors with a fully customizable layout, a flexible multimedia content management system, and to be social media friendly. The site uses a standards-based approach using a modular programming framework. (more…)

New Signature launched the Center for a New American Security’s Natural Security blog–part of their new Natural Security program, which they launched today. The blog’s inaugural post asks, “Is it really a threat, or just a way to try to get people to pay attention to the environment, by ’securitizing’ something that isn’t about security?” This question is the one that the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) seeks to answer through the Natural Security program. The Natural Security blog will provide CNAS with a platform to explore the national security implications to natural resources and engage with experts in a dialogue.
