National Alliance for Public Charter Schools Launches New Website and 2009 Dashboard
The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools launched their re-designed website and released the 2009 Public Charter School Dashboard, a new comprehensive online report. The Dashboard is the largest set of statistical indicators describing public charter school growth and quality ever compiled. New Signature designed, developed and implemented both of these exciting new facets of the Alliance’s web presence.
The new website uses more than just words to connect with its audience. Visitors consume content through multimedia vectors, including video, audio, photos, maps, and interactive reports. New Signature built the website to provide editors with a fully customizable layout, a flexible multimedia content management system, and to be social media friendly. The site uses a standards-based approach using a modular programming framework.
On Thursday, New Signature launched the National Alliance of Public Charter Schools’ Public Charter School Dashboard. It is the largest set of statistical indicators describing public charter schools ever compiled. The site features a wealth of interactive charts, graphs, and maps covering 10 years of charter school growth and performance data in an attractive and easy to use format. There is even a fully configurable report writer providing on-demand printing or downloading of user-customized subsets of the data. “With more than 10 times the amount of data previously available, the Dashboard is a tool for looking at the charter school movement nationally and by state,” said Anna Nicotera, the Alliance’s director of Research and Evaluation.
Like The Big Energy Map site New Signature produced for the Center for a New American Security, New Signature believes the Alliance’s Dashboard is a great example of how research data and reports can be unlocked from the limitations of flat print and PDF media. By fully harnessing the rich, interactive potential of the web, information becomes more accessible, useful, and comprehensible.
