With a huge release of products launching from Microsoft over the next few months (including Windows 7), it can be easy to miss the strongest product they’ve updated which serves as the foundation for all the others, Windows Server 2008 R2.
Although the “R2″ title implies it’s merely an update release, the new features contained within R2 make it the most robust platform for businesses ever released by Microsoft. We’ve been running the version for several months now, and it bundles in features that commonly costs thousands of dollars into the core operating system. (more…)

Windows 7 was released to the general public yesterday and on most fronts, it definitely shines. Here at New Signature, we have been testing it since the first early beta several months ago. This experience has helped us not only raise our awareness of its new features, but it has allowed our consultants to become support-certified before it was even released.
For the average user, Windows 7 offers several significant advantages over its predecessor, Windows Vista: (more…)
New Signature has created the “Ethics In Your State” online directory for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). This directory will provide state and local activists with the contact information they need to cooperate on projects, to seek out assistance from natural allies in their respective states, and to benefit from the experiences of other activists in their states and across state borders.
CREW has closely monitored government ethics, bringing egregious conduct to light and holding public officials accountable for their misconduct. CREW has focused primarily on the federal government, but in 2006, they launched a state-based project called Colorado Ethics Watch (CEW). CEW has been effective in holding public officials and organizations accountable for unethical activities that undermine the integrity of state and local government. CREW lacks the resources, however, to open similar offices in other states. As a result, they turned to New Signature to implement an online directory of state-based groups to assist CREW in identifying, challenging, and deterring unethical conduct by local and state government officials. Public officials held accountable for abusing the public trust at the local level are less likely to reach higher office, where they would wield greater power and have more opportunities to betray the public trust.
e21’s ground breaking website went live today. e21 is a new nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to economic research and innovative public policies for the 21st century. Our approach in creating the e21 website was to blend robust functionality with practical usability to create an exceptional user experience. We employed the latest tactics, standards and technologies to build e21’s Internet presence. (more…)
As a Microsoft Gold Partner, New Signature gets to test drive products well in advance of their eventual release dates. One of the best beta products we have had the pleasure of testing has been Exchange Server 2010, the latest update to Microsoft’s email server.
It’s clear from the moment you download the product that it is different from previous versions of the Exchange server family: the total size is a mere 300 MB. By comparison, Exchange 2007 was 5.65 GB — almost 20 times larger! The installation is similarly streamlined. It is possible to get a working Exchange 2010 server installed and running in a matter of minutes.
